The ‘Art’ of Packing and What I’m Taking Away With Me

The ‘art’ of packing is something that I’m still struggling to come to terms with. I’m a massive over-packer as a ‘just in case’ kind of girl. Compared to five years ago I’m a hell of a lot better, and can actually pack a long weekend away into a carry on case - there’s improvement! However, packing for a two week holiday feels me with fear. From shoes, to accessories, swimwear, umbrellas, right down to my underwear - the stress is too much! I think it gets worse the more exoctic you go. In true Brit style you don’t think that anyone will ever sell suncream anywhere else in the world! Then there’s clothes that work with the tan - ‘I can probably wear this on day three because I’ll be more tanned then.’ You know the score, right?! STRESS.

The idea of this post wasn’t to get life advice from my non-existent packing skills. It was to show you what I am packing on my trip to Sri Lanka - because you know this is more important than actually getting on and packing. Procrastination at its very best.
I’m heading to the Indian Ocean in monsoon season so I’m going to have an interesting experience to say the least. Mostly looking like Monica from Friends in the humidity!
I’ve added the links to some of my favourite items that I’ve packed below.
Straw bag - ASOS - they’ve sold out of the own I have, so this is a very similar version.
That’s just to name a few items. There’s plenty more, as I’m sure you can all imagine! Along with the usual boring stuff, underwear, gym gear, trainers etc.
And of course you can’t go away without packing a stack of books. Here’s what I’m taking (I have back up on my kindle if I read them too fast)
The F Word - Lily Pebbles
Everything I know about love - Dolly Alderton
Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine - Gail Honeyman
The Cows - Dawn O’Porter
It only took two suitcases later and I’m ready to rock and roll. See you in two weeks!
